The IPA (International Police Association) was formed in 1950 in England
by a “Bobby” called Arthur Troop, who believed that police officers
throughout the world must have many common interests apart from their
business ones. Under the motto “Servo per amikeco” – Latin for
“Serve through friendship” – the IPA became a reality. The
association did so well that we now have 300,000 members distributed
across more than 62 countries. Arthur Troop participated in the 50th
anniversary celebrations in 2000, but unfortunately he passed away
30 November 2000. The Danish
Section of the IPA was founded in 1962 and our purpose is the
same as for the IPA: to bring IPA members from member states in friendly
contact with one another through exchange of letters, holidays, family
contacts and international gatherings etc. To develop comradeship and a
sense of belonging between active and retired members of police forces,
both nationally and internationally. To increase respect for the police by
participation in social, cultural and informative activities. IPA’s radio club,
IPARC was founded in Denmark in 1972 and we were
the first country to have the letters “IPA” in our call-sign, OZ5IPA.
The club, which is the only authorised club in the Danish chapter, must
always follow the laws of the international as well as the national
organizations. IPA’s Danish chapter decided at a meeting in June 1994
to allow the radio club to seek sponsors for its activities. Chairmen: From
21 May 1987 to 22 October 1993 OZ5VO Lars Ole Bloch
Pedersen From 23 October 1993 until to day OZ5AAH Preben Jakobsen, ”BEN"
